The collection was inspired by André’s personal connection to the shoes while growing up in Atlanta.

From André’s original sketches to the finished collection, the classic Nylite model has been infused with the playful spirit and design sensibility of the style icon and designer. Until now, André’s skill as a sketch artist and painter has been best known from adorning the CD booklets inside the jewel cases of each album released by his Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum rap duo Outkast.

For the collaboration with Tretorn, André once again created original sketches that are integrated into the capsule collection’s branding — from his ant logo on the box to sketches on the tissue paper inside. The capsule collection “I André Benjamin will not draw in class” features 10 unique designs, including updates of classic Tretorn styles, inspired by Tretorn’s preppy heritage and André’s classroom daydream doodles.
